Bag-in-Box / Bag-in-Barrel

Bag-in-box is the ideal packaging for liquid products: a cardboard outer and an inner bag. The carton protects against damage and exposure to light and at the same time acts as advertising medium/carrier. The bag is filled under vacuum conditions and therefore contracts without bubbles or air spaces when withdrawing the liquid. The exclusion of oxygen increases the shelf-life of the filled products considerably.

The integrated tap allows for simple handling and dosage of the contents:

For foodstuffs or chemical/technical products
For end consumers, bulk consumers and the processing industry
From 1.5 to 30 l content
Available in numerous shapes and designs – from the standard cube to curved edges to cardboard barrels

With Bag-in-Barrel the STI Group was first to successfully develop this type of packaging in barrel-shape. Bag-in-Barrel can be filled and sealed the same way as the standard Bag-in-Box design, either manually and in future also by machine.

Advantages of Bag-in-Box/Bag-in-Barrel

Long shelf-life of filled product due to exclusion of oxygen
Low space requirements during transport and storage
Optimised presentation due to large printing area and high-end finishing possibilities – both with offset and flexo printing
Considerable weight savings: a 3l Bag-in-Box for wine weighs 38% less than 4 glass bottles a’ 0.75l.
Opening up new target groups.
Convenience for end and bulk users.
Simple recycling by separating cardboard outer and inner bag.
Compatible with semi and fully automated, hot and cold filling processes.
Aseptic filling is possible.

Single source solutions

Depending on the filling volume, filling is semi or fully automated. The filling station can either be designed as a separate unit or as an integral part of a complete unit with folding box erecting and closing machine.
STI offers you the Bag-in-Box as a modular system – from just cardboard packaging to design/development and implementation of the complete system in conjunction with reputable engineering partners.
