Challenging packaging requirements and a demand for more flexibility in production made it necessary to outsource functions.

Profit centre have been established and the takeover of Schröter + Bake AG proofed that the company is on its way to become one of the top player in the European market for high-quality packaging and displays.



A new plant in Czech Republic (Rumburk) and the establishment of different European Sales Offices are results the increasing globalisation of markets.

 
  1983 Establishment of the Wilhelm-Stabernack-Stiftung .
 
 
1981 With the foundation of the VMS (packaging, machine, service) the company offers an additional service: packaging and machinery from one source.
 
1980 The introduction of the F-flute on the German market by the Gustav Stabernack GmbH gives packaging a new profile.


Today's highly successful instant display is developed in Grebenhain.

Investments into latest technology and emphasise of R&D underline the strong market position of the company.
 
1972 Yearly turnover passes 100 million German Marks for the first time.    
 
  1964 Quality first - introduction of a company-own quality management system .  
 
1963 Already at the 1st German packaging competition a product produced by the Gustav Stabernack GmbH - the carrier box "tokibox" was awarded a price.
 
1960 Turnover passes 10 million German Marks.

Graphic aspects of packaging design became more important and consequently an own litho department – a forerunner of today’s STI ProGrafik GmbH – has been introduced. The production of transport boxes enlarged the product range.

The first POS displays were “born” in the new plant in Grebenhain. Beside carton and corrugated board, plastic and acrylic glass gain more importance in the production of packaging and displays.

 
1955-
1960
Birth of offset printed corrugated board revolutionised the packaging industry. The development of litho-laminated board (chrowell® - a printed carton board mounted to a single faced board) supports the advertisement function of the packaging.

 
Demand for printed packaging forces the expansion of capacity and the plant Freiensteinau was established.
 
1951 Foundation of the central plant and holding in Lauterbach.
 
  1948 First export endeavours - the vine tube, a special carton board tube for grape seedlings is exported to France and Italy.

First usage of flexo-graphic printing.
 
 
1945 Temporary transfer to a riding school at Sickendorf. Together with his son Wilhelm, Richard Stabernack restarted production of film boxes and round cheese boxes. Machinery was recovered from the ruins and new technical developments were applied.
 
1944 Destruction of the factory in Offenbach.

Development of a steam-driven laminator which mounts uncoated grey board and straw board to high-gloss papers. This creates a packaging with advertising appeal.

An own central research & development department has been built and standardised packaging solutions for industries are introduced.

Development of a round carton cheese box for the Lauterbacher Diary.
 
 
1929 50th anniversary of the company - only little impact was felt by the prevailing economic crisis.

 
1926 Successful management by split agendas: Gustav Stabernack acted as commercial director, Richard Stabernack as technical director of the company. The Gustav Stabernack GmbH developed to become the biggest player in the industry.

The major products offered by the company were shoe boxes for the Offenbach leather industry as well as fine cardboard boxes for leather goods.
