Packaging per mouse click

The development phase can be significantly reduced and the parallel development of product, packaging and display accelerated through the use of the latest CAD technology and the exchange of virtual product data with the manufacturer.

The results are virtual, three-dimensional packaging and display ideas that are designed graphically and whose functionality can be computer-tested.

Today, clients expect a short design and development process and digital sketches are essential. This shortens the sampling process and gives the client a detailed idea of the concept. The realistic sketches are often used to discuss internally or even to pre-sell POS campaigns to retailers, with success.

Saving time and money

Virtual packaging with a computer means first and foremost shorter process development and test phases. The simulation per mouse click makes time-consuming packaging trials redundant and minimises time and personnel used for the construction of samples and mock-ups. Since the computer exactly calculates the ideal arrangement of product parts in the packaging, this results in the added benefit of less packaging volume.

To advise customers in their choice of the various finishing options, the STI design team use innovative software, the Esko Visualizer. This unites the information of the printed image with structure, touch and finish effects. This way, the effects of foil stamping, spot lacquering or stamping can be simulated in 3-D and can be assessed in the form of interactive animations. Ulrich Klüber, Product Development Manager for the STI Group is convinced that the development times and costs, even for high quality, finished packaging can be substantially reduced.
